The challenges of attracting and retaining cybersecurity talent have increased over the past several years, which puts the saying "necessity is the mother of invention" to the test. This session will explore the market forces behind the talent demand, the unique challenges it presents to UC, and how UC is collectively working to address it. We will also explore once you have the talent, how do you keep them motivated and engaged? This will be an interactive session, with industry data, live polling, anecdotes from across UC, and a four-step process toward filling your "cyber-cistern".
Deploying Macs with JAMF Pro. We will provide a high-level overview of Aggie Desktop, outline the initiative's goals and demonstrate the tools we use to achieve those goals, namely JAMF Pro. Topics will include: an overview of UC Davis' JAMF infrastructure, tools used, how to meet the client's needs across four different academic and administrative departments, and our successes and challenges we found along the way.
Coaching to Quell Lingering Resistance in the Wake of Change
The change has been implemented. Perhaps it is a university or system wide change that has been rolled out with presentations, workshops, staff meetings. Or maybe the change focused on a particular unit. While the change has physically occurred, not everyone is on board with the new program. Resistance may be overt and/or covert. You sense an underlying hope of too many people that this change will go the way of some earlier changes…nowhere...
Change Management was spending most of their time following up on change requests lacking basic data. We will walk through our journey to improved CR data quality: process, tool updates, training, etc., while incorporating lean and agile methodologies.
Goal: Decrease follow up (both before and after the change implementation from 88% to 25% by April 2018
Why: Improve quality of change request data, faster approvals, more efficient use of everyone’s time
